Jessica and Josh wanted an intimate wedding somewhere beautiful in the Cascade Mountains and Sparks Lake was the perfect location for their elopement. They wanted epic views but somewhere easy to get to so their immediate family could attend. When I had my initial call with them I knew Sparks Lake would fit their vision. You can easily see Mt Bachelor, South Sister, and Broken Top from even the parking lot and with it being summer there are multiple locations to pick from for a ceremony.
Jessica & Josh live out of town in Washington so they weren’t able to actually see the spot until a month before their wedding.
The day of their weather was truly perfect weather. A fire had brought smoke into town but it was magically clear in the Cascades. There were some light clouds that softened the sun and allowed us to shoot from every angle. It was warm but not too warm – and slightly later in the season so there were less mosquitos.
They opted for a first look to have an intimate moment just two of them and to get out all the prewedding jitters. Josh’s reaction was just absolutely perfect.
Their ceremony was joined by Mt Bachelor in the background and their immediate family. After the ceremony we did family photos and then had about an hour of complete dedicated portrait time. Truly a photographers dream.
One of the benefits of a small wedding is Jessica & Josh were able to have it in such an epic location. They chose a week night so there were no crowds and we were truly able to capture some magic.
