Brasada Ranch Wedding | Meghan + Morgan

Wedding

Are you dreaming of a picturesque wedding in Central Oregon? Look no further than Brasada Ranch, a stunning venue nestled in the heart of Powell Butte.

Meghan and Morgan are both extreme sports enthusiasts and met at a Portland Thorns soccer game in August 2017. In Meghan’s words “We were both sitting in the friends and family section at the game. I mistakenly thought she knew my friends and initiated a conversation. We spent the entire game chatting, went on a date a week later, and never looked back :).” Morgan left her job at Nike and now they both work at Adidas and live Portland.

One of the most important things Meghan and Morgan wanted was a timeline crafted with lots of in between moments. They did not want their day to feel like an elongated photoshoot but rather have me there to capture the day, direct when needed, and really blend and become a part of their wedding.

I struggle to describe Meghan and Morgan’s Brasada ranch wedding other than calling it “amazing and way cooler than I could ever hope to be.” Their outfits, their hair, their flowers, the weather! It was all just so incredibly photogenic. With some cloudy weather we were able to do their first look on top of the Trestle Bridge. Afterwards we ventured down to the pond for some additional portraits before meeting up with their sisters to take wedding party photos.

There are several ceremony options at Brasada and they chose to get married on the lawn outside of the Range restaurant. Their ceremony kicked off with bourbon balls which paid homage to Morgan’s Kentucky roots. Guests overlooked the mountains as they were married by their family friend – a supreme court judge in Kentucky.

After the ceremony – guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the ceremony site before walking to the reception site of the Barn.

From start to finish the wedding was impeccably styled. The decor focused on early terracotta flowers grounded in sage with a smattering of candles. Morgan and Meghan wanted to craft a full tasting experience for their guests and worked with Brasada to come up with a comprehensive tasting menu catered to all of their guests dietary requirements. From meat eaters, vegetarians, gluten free, and vegans there were 3 courses for everyone! They opted to rent chairs and add string lighting to the space which really added a lighter tone to the indoor reception space.

I’d say the common theme from the speeches at the wedding was that both Morgan and Meghan were pretty serious athletes. They now bring their passion of sports to their jobs and their relationship.

I think one of my favorite surprise moments was holding on to Morgan’s phone during portraits and noticing that it was getting notifications for fantasy football and Dominos pizza specials. I just love that these incredibly classy ladies with probably the better taste than I could ever dream of has the Domino pizza app on their phone.

To kick off the reception Morgan and Meghan had their first dance and the party started with DJ Deadpan. Midway through the night Morgan changed to her second outfit and photography coverage ended.

My best tips for a Brasada Ranch Wedding:

  • Make a whole wedding weekend out of it! Weddings can go by quickly and if you have lots of guests coming from out of town, believe me, you want to see them more! Along with so many incredible cabin options there is a true variety of activities all on site! From fancy golf to horseback riding to fishing all the way to the outdoor pool and hot tub. There is also a spa on site and several dining experiences. You can truly get to see your guests all weekend long!
  • Consider staying at one of the new Cascade Bungalow cabins! These cabins are brand new and have a more modern feel. They are all 1 bedroom but with light and dark wood tones your detail photos can have a more modern twist! They also come with their own golf cart which is.. just a lot of fun. I stayed in one of these last winter for a little escape and it was truly so much fun and SO BEAUTIFUL!
  • Take advantage of the Brasada offered transportation! Brasada offers transportation for weddings between cabins to the first look, ceremony, and will even pick up your wedding party/family for photos! They have golf carts or large people moving vans and in my experience they are always on time with the friendliest drivers!
  • Take a look at some of the unique locations Brasada offers! From considering cocktail hour on top of the Trestle Bridge (for smaller weddings) to looking at the other ceremony sites Brasada has all sorts of amazing locations to take a look at!
